So, whats up in your lifes back home? tell me, is there something new?
I would also love to get some comments on what you think about the blog and what things you would like to know more about!!
You see, somethimes it is really hard to know what to start telling about, since there is happening so much in my life right now......so give me a clue.
This weekend we had a great party here in Ayacucho.....
Two of our good friends had their 32 years birthday and they decided to make a big party together in a local restaurant.
It was and amazing evening and the best of all, all our friends were there. It is always very rare occation to get all your friends partying at the same place at the same time......so it was a nice night to party together and see them all without leaving the place.
Tomorrow we continue working and have a lot of work ahead of us for the next weeks......
Monday evening we leave for Lima (the capital) where we will participate in a fair of tourism. It is organized by a travel agency from Ayacucho and the goal is to promote tourist to come to Ayacucho. There will be 150-200 agencies visiting the fair, so it will be a good opportunity to promote the things Ayacucho has to offer. Of course there will also be other companies like airlines and bus companies that promote their tours, but all in the conection of Ayacucho.'
The problem Ayacucho has at the moment is that since the horrible terrorist acts of sendero luminoco (lightning path) in the 80;s and early 90;s all happened in the province of Ayacucho, and more specificly city of Ayacucho.....
It is very hard to attract tourists here now, since all emassies tell their people that it is a dangerous place to travel to.
Of course this is not the case in reality, since Ayacucho is a very calm and safe place to live in....much safer then Cuzco or Lima.
We, as small private organizations and private people can help it a little bit to chance the oppinion of the people, but the biggest input should come from the government.....they are the only once who can effect other effectivly. Still, until now, they are not doing a lot about it.....so organizations here have decided to help them selves.
We will be on this fair promoting the future ViaVia Café and at the same time telling about our project with the study for sustainable tourism.
The once of you who are able to read spanish, will see in our newsletters that our place will not be a ordenery restaurants who works for the money....No.
Our goal is to train local people to take responsibilities in our restaurant and give them a feeling that is tis also their bussines. The ultimate goal will be to have the place runned totally by locals!!
Also the restaurant will be a training place for students from tourism schools in Ayacucho. Since there is not a lot of variation in the restaurants here, it is very hard to get different work expiriensses in Ayacucho and many of the students need to go to Lima or futher if they want to develop their skills in this frot. This is something that is very important for us, since we wnt to work whitin the terms of sustainability and development of Ayacucho.
It also means that in the future, Ayacucho will have young trained people with a knowlidge of international kitchen to improve the restaurants here and open new once.
Hmmm....
I think this will be all for now, its already getting late and i could go on and on forever......
This is why i want you guys to give me some input of what you want to hear more about.....since there just simply is to much to tell and this was just a small part of it........
Okey people, I hope by the time I get back from Lima in 1 week, I will have some opiniones about what I sould write next about....
Until then, I wish you all the best and work hard....
